Many of you know about the Disparity Study now being conducted in New Orleans, it is imperative that we participate.
I know that we are busy; however, the future of our communities of color depends in part on this Disparity Study.
Please, please, take the time to do the interviews with the consultants, reach out to them if they don’t reach out to you. Silence is not an option, fear is not an option, if we are not willing to tell our own stories, then someone else will tell them for us, and they always get it wrong.
Show up at the Disparity Study Public meetings to be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm and 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Training, Resource, and Assistive-technology Center (TRAC), Oliver St. Pe’ Center, Room 101 on the University of New Orleans campus.
As all of you know, we fought for this study because black-owned businesses and residents of this city agreed that we have not received our fair share of contracts. People of color must take full advantage of this rare opportunity to tell the real story of what's happening to us.
Get up, get out and tell the story of the racism our businesses face every day. For more information check out The Collaborative website at www.thecollaborative504.com or the Disparity Study Website at www.noladisparitystudy.com.
I am begging my people to do what we must do, then pass this information on, and plea to everybody in your realm to participate.
Peace,
Barbara Major of the Collaborative
