Calvin Leotis Hampton, Sr. was born September 6, 1958, in Lexington, County, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Johnny Lee Hampton and Bishop Rolin and Cassie M. Jeffcoat. Surrounded by his children and loved ones, Calvin departed this earthly life on Friday, October 7, 2022, at University Medical Center New Orleans.
Educated in the public schools of Lexington County, Calvin was a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School. After graduation, he found himself relocating to New Orleans, Louisiana, which was his home for over 30 years.
Calvin, affectionately known as "Nupp", (which was a preferred term of endearment especially by his mom), was a man that loved his family. "I love you", were words that he spoke often to family and friends. Although he was known for his physical physique, he was a gentle giant of a man. He also loved the art of cooking, and when it came time to cook, he was known by family and friends, as "Chef Hampton." You could always count on him when it came to cooking his share of family dinners, especially during the holidays. If you were ever in New Orleans, he would take on the role of tour guide. There was not a place, nor a road, that he did not know.
Calvin was not a stranger to work, and he was a hardworking man. He was the Owner/President and operator of Hampton's Welding & Fabrication, Inc. and Scrub & Clean Cleaning Services.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Hampton; and brother, Stephone Jeffcoat I.
Those who will forever cherish Calvin's fond and precious memories of Calvin are his three loving children, Alisha Hampton of Harvey, LA; Calvin Hampton Jr. and Macie Hampton, both of New Orleans, LA; his fiancé, Deneen Wiltz, of the home; six grandchildren, Mia Prevost, Alia Prevost, Taniah Hansberry, Julien Hampton, Khloe Hampton, and Tia Gaspard; his brother, John Hampton of Charlotte, NC; and sister, Shirley Hampton Smith of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
